In recent years, summer "club" events have become a primary opportunity for players seeking to develop their skills and experience. Geronimo has decided to organize several travel teams aimed at providing our current and former players the chance to gain from these events. The teams will be led by experienced coaches. Different from regular season Geronimo, these teams will be highly competitive with tryouts and competitive environment. Playing time will be earned and not guaranteed.
Travel Coach Responsibilities:
To represent the Geronimo Program in a positive manner at all times, on and off the field.
To represent the positive coaching and sportsmanship-centric philosophies of the Geronimo program.
To attend tryouts and the majority of the practices, tournaments, and games.
Communicate upcoming schedules and tournament information to parents.
Travel Coach Stipend:
Geronimo Lacrosse covers the cost of travel-related expenses for all coaches.
Those who do not have children on the team will receive a stipend.
Boys and Girls teams in 4th, 5th and 6th grade will only attend the Lax Splash tournament in Baltimore, MD. These tournaments are a great opportunity for our players to get playing experience in a competitive environment and continue to improve their skills.
Teams will practice one night per week during the regular Geronimo season. Once regular Geronimo concludes, the team will practice two times per week. The coaches typically schedule dates on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday in order to ensure trainer coverage, field availability, etc. In order to be a travel coach, you must be able to attend the majority of the practices, as well as the tryout process. If a travel coach will miss a tournament, they must notify Andrew Stanley prior to the commitment.
