Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When does registration for spring programs open?
A: The schedule for the upcoming season is posted in mid-November, and registration opens the first week of December for all spring programs.
Q: How do I register?
A: Registration is 100% online through our website. You may visit the Register Online page to view all open registrations. Please see our Programs and Registration page for more details.
Q: Where do Geronimo programs take place?
A: The majority of our Geronimo sessions take place at the Collegiate School Robins Campus at 400 Blair Road. Some of our sessions are held at the Collegiate School Main Campus as well. Please refer to the Directions page for directions to the facilities.
Q: Do I have to be affiliated with Collegiate School to participate in Geronimo?
A: No. Geronimo is open to the public on a first come, first serve basis.
Q: Can my son or daughter play up a division?
A: Geronimo does not allow players to play up a division under any circumstances.
Q: My son plays for XYZ travel team, and we have games every Saturday but want to play Geronimo too. What should we do?
A: If your son is between 1st - 5th grade, he is eligible for our Geronimo South program, which meets on Sunday afternoons at Ukrop Park. We will have an excellent staff of veteran Geronimo coaches there each and every Sunday to teach basic fundamentals and concepts, and we'll also play some games!
Q: Do we have to provide our own equipment or can we borrow some from Geronimo?
A: Each participant is responsible for his or her own equipment. Geronimo does provide each team with one set of goalie equipment for anyone who might want to step between the pipes. Please see the Equipment page for a comprehensive list of necessary equipment, plus a list of local options for purchasing equipment.
Q: What happens when there is inclement weather?
A: We will update the Geronimo hotline at (804) 741-9729, send out emails to the addresses you've provided during registration, and update our Twitter account (@geronimolax) in the event of any scheduling changes. Geronimo has a zero tolerance policy regarding thunder and lightning.
Q: Where can I get my hands on some Geronimo gear?
A: Check out our Online Store. We have a mix of old and new Geronimo apparel for sale at extraordinarily low prices.
Q: Who is in charge?
A: We have Program Leaders responsible for the on-field activities for each program. Andrew Stanley is the Executive Director of Geronimo, and Spotty Robins is the Program Administrator. You can find their contact information on our Contacts page.
Q: Does Geronimo offer a fall league?
A: Unfortunately, Geronimo does not offer a fall league. We are firm believers in multi-sport participation, and there are a myriad of other youth sports options in the area during the fall and winter months. We do typically offer one weekend clinic during the fall and one during the winter months. You can find more information about these clinics on our Camps and Clinics page.
Q: Does Geronimo field summer travel teams?
A: In the past, Geronimo has fielded travel teams beginning with rising fifth graders all the way up to the high school level. Given the explosion in popularity of travel lacrosse in the Richmond area, Geronimo will be scaling back the number of teams we field beginning in the summer of 2015. Our teams are all formed through a tryout open to current Geronimo participants. More information is available under the General Information tab in our Travel section.
Q: Do I need to be a member of US Lacrosse to play Geronimo?
A: A US Lacrosse membership is included in the registration process for Geronimo programs, so you do not need to register on your own.
